My Favourite 90’s cartoons
In the world of animation and VFX, the cartoon world has been transferred to some other genre. The comic books are transforming in the movies with a lot of VFX, Disney is making live action movies of all his cartoons. But the 90’s were totally different back then. It was a golden age for cartoons. Even though the 90’s ended almost two decades ago, a lot of the era’s cartoons are still held up as pinnacles of animated excellence. Despite that, some of the amazing shows from the 90’s have faded from the memory. In this blog, I will be just looking back at some of my favorite cartoons.
‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ was Cartoon Networks’s one of the original shows that are remembered most well for the genius boy Dexter and his sister Dee Dee. In the show, Dexter had a secret lab in which he used to do dazzling, world-saving experiments. The show was full of humor, with fights between siblings and was fit for viewers of all ages.
‘Disney’s Hercules’ was remarkably popular in the 90’s. In the show, Hercules, son of Greek god Zeus, is turned into a half-god, half-mortal by the evil Hades and then he journeyed from zero to hero. The muscular Hercules discovers his immortal side. The show was a treat to action maniacs.
‘The Powerpuff Girls’ was a children show which portrays the adventures of three girls, Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles created by a scientist named Professor Utonium. They lived in a fictional city of Townsville. With help of their special powers, they used to fight mad scientist Jojo, bank robbers and aliens when called upon by the city’s mayor.
‘Johnny Bravo’ was an American cartoon show centered on a muscular man who used to try to get a woman to date him but usually ends up unsuccessful in his attempts. He used to get entangled in bizarre situations. The show also featured some of the famous 90’s Hollywood celebrities. This show was quite different than the usual cartoon shows as it had a lot of adult humor.
‘Courage the Cowardly Dog’ was my favourite Cartoon Network’s show. Courage was a little pink dog with delusions problems. The married elderly couple, Eustace and Muriel were his owners living on a farm full of bizarre adventures. Muriel used to love Courage but Eustace, her husband used to bring the shit out of courage by scaring him. The trio used to encounter with ghosts, aliens, paranormal spirits, monsters and what more. Courage a coward dog used to overcome his fear and had to go to great lengths to save Eustace and Muriel from all the misadventures. The series was known for its dark humor and the bonding of the dog with his owners.
‘Scooby-Doo Where are you!’ was one of the all-time favourite cartoon shows. The show had a variety cast with brainy Velma, enthusiast Fred, fashionista Daphne, free spirit Shaggy, and Shaggy’s talking dog Scooby-doo. They used to search for weird phenomena or people used to contact them for paranormal activities. Then they used to catch and unveil the mysteries with their green van, the Mystery Machine. The show was full of humor. Although the show used to feature ghosts and paranormal activities, in the end, it comes out to be a human doing all that. The show has also been transformed into movies which had done pretty well at the box office.
So these were some of my favourite 90’s cartoons that I’ll still watch when gets a chance to. You people too must be having your favourites , share them in the comments below.
